Profile
Assistant Professor at Nihon University, College of Law, Department of Journalism. Ph.D. in Area Studies from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, the University of Tokyo. Assumed current position in 2026 after serving as a Project Assistant Professor at Tokyo College, Institute for Advanced Study, the University of Tokyo. At the age of 19, she moved to the UK and studied at the University of London, where she gained diverse professional experience, including internships at BBC World Service Radio and TBS London bureau, producing programs at a university radio station, and working as an interpreter for NHK. Motivated by the sense that remaining within the English-speaking world alone would limit her perspective, decided to continue her research in Middle Eastern studies, focusing on Iran. She has travelled to Tehran many times and conducted research in museums and galleries, focusing on exhibitions related to history, religion, science, and modern and contemporary art. Drawing on this experience, she is engaged in both writing and teaching. Her research interests also include identities as expressed through exhibitions and performance. During her doctoral studies, she co-founded the crowdfunding project and co-directed the documentary film, Berlin Transgression, featuring drag queens and transsexual artists based in Berlin, Germany.Data
